The word Courage is a French word that loosely translates as 'Passion of the Heart'. To live from the heart is to love with wisdom and courage; to be brave enough to allow one?s open heart to feel all the emotions it has the capacity to feel and to respond with truth and grace. To follow one?s truth (heart) with grace is not rational and it is not logical, it just is. In matters of life the heart rules.

This is an assault against women and women's rights. It has been reported that over 300,000 woman have reported being raped last year. Only 39 percent of rapes and sexual assault are reported. Over 32,000 pregnancies result from rape every year, and that's only the ones that are reported. More than half of all rapes occur before the age of 18. In 2004 the CDC reported that 734,965 women were treated and released for acts of violence against women.

Predator Drones, Global Hawks, X45A prototype unmanned remote controlled devices that can take pictures, send them back to Langley Virginia and drop satellite guided bombs on targets. Sometimes we hit specific targets and sometimes there is what the DOD terms as Collateral Damage. That is an antiseptic way of saying we killed innocents. We are sending these drones around the world and really pissing people off. Countries around the world and their people are hating Americans because our administration is behaving really badly with their high tech toys.

Twenty one million people in the US suffer from an irrational fear of Friday the Thirteenth causing an estimated loss of revenue to business of nearly nine hundred million dollars. It may be more unlucky for women than men.

Doing your 'Personal Best' is so important. I am always amazed by how many people are willing to do an adequate job; not a good job, not a bad job just an adequate job. It is frustrating on a personal level but when I see it happening in our government I really get discouraged. We have entrusted our politicians with great power and great responsibility and in such matters as the confirmation of Judge Alito I expect one hundred and ten percent from our representatives!

We are flying all over the world, the boundaries and boarders of continents and countries and waters and things are so muddy and smudged. People connect from all over the world. Cultures connect from all over the world. It is such a global community now that some of the dogma and the precepts and the customs and things that were so important at a certain time and a certain place are just so irrelevant today. Wind is readily available, it's blowing around all the time, it doesn't hurt the environment and it's practically free. It's kind of a no brainer. The biggest problem is what these will do to our beautiful views. "Thou shalt not kill" so many laws are built on the tenants of faith, but how does it work that the punishment for killing is killing? Today is Columbus Day. Our Nation's Capital, the District of Columbia, was named for Columbus. Unfortunately, although our children's school books glorify him as the one who discovered America, he was far from a hero. Columbus was actually a creep. A slave trader and murderous conquer. Why would this government honor him with a Federal Holiday? Surely there are many throughout history who deserve this recognition. He is not one of those persons.

Twenty Seven Year old Malalai Joya was elected to Parliament in Afghanistan. She is an outspoken opponent of the powerful Warlords in that country. As we, the US continue to assist this country to build a democratic government, we have helped them write into their official documentation a requirement that 25 percent of the parliamentary seats will be reserved for women. Why not here in the USA?

In an article today a reporter talks to her daughter about the job choices for women. Most woman who choose to work inside the home as a mother give up thier income, their name, and their ability to move about freely. Without an income they are at the mercy of their partner. Women stay in bad situations because they have no choices, powerless without money. Nationwide, worldwide women stay in dangerous situations. 50% of all homeless women and children in the US are there because of violence in the home.

Everyone is creative, whether or not you consider yourself an artist. I think spirituality is a creative force. Some kind of connection that we all make. You don't have to be able to draw or paint or compose music to be an artist. It's this very individual, very personal understanding of the One, the Everything. And it occured to me that since society places so little value on what mothers do and, then eventually it's going to seep right into your brain... Some women have been treated with such little value for so long that they don't even value themselves.

Why is it so difficult for Mothers to be part of the political process? Is the Occupation "Mom" discriminated against? Being a "Stay-at-home Mom" is an occupation with specific limitations. The country has made specific accomodations for others with limitations with the American's with Disabilities Act of 1990. Listen to how interestingly this Legistation fits the "Stay-at-home Parent" profession.

The Equal Rights Amendment. September 20, 2006
The Equal Rights Amendment was introduced in 1923. Eighty two years later it is still not part of the Constitution of the United States. Why? Section 1. Equality of rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any state on account of sex. Section 2. The Congress shall have the power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article. Section 3. This amendment shall take effect two years after the date of ratification.

I pledge allegiance to the flag. Today I read that again someone is sueing in the supreme court about the constitutionality of the Pledge in the public schools. People are literally dying where they sit waiting for this government to help them, but where is our government? And the guy says forget it.

We connect in a multitude of ways but connecting as a global people is a lot harder to do. It has to be personal, there has to be some familiarity or it's hard to make the connection. I think that's why some of these major religions are floundering. They don't make it personal because it's very difficult to connect to something that worked 2000 years ago.
